The Student Voice: You Said; We Did.
This term, there have been 10 reports made anonymously by pupils on The Student Voice.
Where concerns have been raised that are not specific to individual pupils or staff, I have detailed below what the concerns were and what action has been taken.
You Said
Concerns about the application of the dress code and uniform policy: is it being fairly applied? Do pupils know what they got wrong?
We Did
Further training with staff about the dress code, how to address pupils about their uniform, and the importance of restorative conversations so a pupil knows what is incorrect and is given chance to change it.
Suggestion to pupils in the Sixth Form to raise this at a Sixth Form Council meeting.
You Said
Concerns about seating plans in lessons: what advice are staff given about how to ensure an inclusive seating plan for all?
We Did
Staff are advised to create seating plans that are changed regularly every couple of weeks and that are sensitive to any pastoral or SEND requirements of pupils, and to class dynamics.
Teachers have been reminded that girls and boys should be mixed up in a classroom, but that it does not always have to be a ‘girl-boy’ seating plan.

Concerns about casual homophobia at school; what can we do to address this and ensure all pupils have a secure understanding of sexuality?
We Did
Pastoral staff will be receiving further external training on LGBTQ+ in coming weeks, and a whole staff training is planned for later in the year.
Pupils are encouraged to report specific incidents so this can be addressed robustly.
PSHE content has been reviewed to ensure all age groups have lessons that are inclusive of different sexualities.
The message has been shared with the inclusion team who are considering opportunities for assemblies or other pupil voice work on this matter.
You Said
Concerns about facilities: can the hand dryer in the girls DH toilets be replaced?
We Did
This has been reported to the Estates team for repair.
Please do continue to tell us about anything you notice that is broken or needs repair around the school.
